Legal software that earns billable hours back.
Matter management, contract lifecycle, AI-assisted research, and e-discovery for firms and in-house teams.
Legal work is high-stakes, document-heavy, and historically under-served by software. Lawyers still draft in Word, track time in spreadsheets, search precedents in costly bibliographic databases, and abstract contracts by hand. The change is finally happening — driven by client pressure on rates, AI's genuine usefulness on legal text, and a new generation of in-house counsel who refuse to accept paper-era tooling. Buraq builds LegalTech for the firms and teams leading that change: matter and case management for litigation and transactional practices, contract lifecycle management for in-house and procurement, AI-assisted research and drafting, e-discovery pipelines, and legal-operations dashboards that finally let leadership see where time and money go. Every system we ship respects the realities of legal work: privilege, conflicts, retention, the unforgiving precision of legal language, and the fact that AI hallucinations have already cost lawyers sanctions.
The problems we're built to solve.
Real-world blockers that prevent legal businesses from scaling — and exactly how we eliminate them.
Time billed vs. time worked
Most law firms still recover only a fraction of true working time, with the rest lost to time-entry friction and write-downs. Better capture and review tooling has direct revenue impact.
Contract chaos
In-house counsel typically inherit a corpus of contracts in shared drives, email, and DMS systems with inconsistent metadata. Visibility into obligations, renewals, and risk is genuinely poor.
AI hallucinations and citation safety
Generative AI on legal text without retrieval, citation, and human review has already produced sanctioned filings. Useful AI for legal must be retrieval-grounded and citation-traceable.
Privilege and confidentiality
Attorney-client privilege, work-product doctrine, ethical walls, and conflicts checks each constrain how data flows inside a firm. Software that ignores them creates malpractice risk.
Document-heavy workflows
Litigation, M&A, and transactional practices live in tens of thousands of documents per matter. The systems that survive are the ones that treat documents as first-class objects, not attachments.
Solutions in production for legal operators.
Proven deliverables we've shipped — built to integrate, scale, and return measurable value.
Matter and case management
Matter intake with conflicts checking, document and email organisation, calendaring, deadline / docket tracking, time capture, and trust accounting — for litigation and transactional practices.
Contract lifecycle management (CLM)
Intake, drafting (with templates and clause libraries), redlining, negotiation, e-signature, post-signature obligation tracking, renewal alerting, and AI-assisted abstraction of legacy contracts.
AI-assisted research and drafting
Retrieval-augmented research over case law, statutes, and your firm's own work product; drafting copilots that produce citation-traced output a lawyer can actually rely on.
E-discovery and document review
Ingestion, processing, deduplication, near-duplicate detection, predictive coding, and review workbench — built on open standards or as focused layers on top of Relativity / Reveal.
Legal operations dashboards
Spend-by-matter, panel-firm performance, cycle-time analytics, and budget-to-actuals — for in-house teams that finally want to manage legal as a business.
Client portals and self-serve
Branded client portals with matter status, document exchange, e-billing, and secure messaging — replacing the email chaos that dominates client communication.
The results operators see.
Measurable improvements delivered to legal clients after working with Buraq.
Higher billable recovery
Frictionless time capture and AI-assisted narrative drafting recover billable time normally lost to write-downs and gaps.
Faster contract turnaround
Templates, clause libraries, and AI-assisted redlining cut contract turnaround from weeks to days for typical NDA / MSA flows.
Citation-safe AI you can defend
Retrieval-grounded, citation-traceable AI output that lawyers can rely on without spot-checking every paragraph for hallucinations.
Audit-grade conflicts and privilege handling
Conflicts checking, ethical walls, and privilege controls baked into matter intake and document access — not retrofitted later.
Visibility for in-house and management
Spend, cycle-time, and panel-firm dashboards turn legal-ops from cost-centre into managed function.
Patterns we've shipped for clients in this space.
Real implementations — not templates — tailored for legal workflows.
Mid-market firm matter platform
Mid-market firm matter platform
Matter intake with conflicts, documents and emails per matter, calendaring with court-rules engines, time capture, and integration with billing / accounting.
In-house CLM
In-house CLM
Self-serve contract intake, template-based drafting, redlining, e-signature, post-signature obligation extraction, and renewal alerting — with Slack / Teams integration for the business teams that need fast turnaround.
Retrieval-grounded research copilot
Retrieval-grounded research copilot
RAG-based research over case law, statutes, and the firm's own work product, with citation-by-paragraph and lawyer-in-the-loop review — engineered to refuse to invent citations.
Litigation review workbench
Litigation review workbench
Document ingestion, near-duplicate detection, TAR / predictive coding, privilege review, and production preparation — open or layered on top of an existing review platform.
Legal-ops dashboard
Legal-ops dashboard
Spend-by-matter and by-firm, cycle-time analytics, accruals support, and budget-to-actuals — fed by e-billing (LEDES 1998B / 2000), DMS, and the matter platform.
Outcomes we've delivered.
Numbers from live projects across the legal vertical.
Replaced spreadsheet time capture and a legacy DMS-bolted matter system with a unified matter / time / DMS platform — measurable lift in billable recovery without changing case mix.
Self-serve NDA portal with template-based drafting, AI-assisted redlining, and e-signature — closing thousands of NDAs per quarter without the legal team being the bottleneck.
Greenfield retrieval-grounded research product over case law and statutes, with paragraph-level citation and explicit refusal-to-invent engineering — went to market without a single hallucinated citation in beta.
01Do you replace existing law-firm systems or extend them?
Both. We have built bespoke matter platforms for firms outgrowing their legacy stack, and we have built focused workflow layers on top of iManage, NetDocuments, Aderant, Elite, and Clio when ripping them out wasn't justified.
02Which DMS systems can you integrate with?
iManage, NetDocuments, SharePoint, OpenText, and Worldox via their published APIs. We have also done custom DMS replacements for firms whose document corpus had outgrown the legacy system.
03How do you handle AI hallucinations in legal applications?
We design AI features as retrieval-augmented systems with paragraph-level citation, lawyer-in-the-loop review, and explicit refusal-to-answer when retrieval doesn't support a confident answer. We do not ship autonomous legal output.
04Can you handle conflicts checks and ethical walls?
Yes — conflicts checking at matter intake against client and matter parties, with party normalisation, ethical-wall enforcement at document and matter level, and the audit trail bar counsel will request.
05What about data residency and privilege?
All client data is stored in the deployment region you specify, with strict access controls, audit logging, and matter-level encryption keys where the firm's policy demands it. Privileged communications are flagged and protected from incidental disclosure.
06Do you build LEDES e-billing integrations?
Yes — LEDES 1998B and 2000 generation, validation, and submission to e-billing platforms (Tymetrix, Legal Tracker, Bottomline, Brightflag) — including the timekeeper and code-set governance that makes them not get rejected.
